| SCHOOL BOARD NEWS (continued)
Another very proud event for our school and community was
“meeting AYP”…for those of you who are not aware, this means
that each and every student in grades K-8 was tested and
found to be making adequate yearly progress as defined and
required by State and Federal law. Our staff and
administration meets the challenges that these laws present
with continued enthusiasm and dedication to teaching; for
that we are thankful and fortunate.
Regarding school facility needs, the Board
continues to work on a new charge for the Building Committee
with the goal of presenting a plan to address school
facility needs at the 2009 District Meeting. We are allowing
the committee some much needed down time and anticipate that
regular meetings will resume in late summer. The first
meeting date will be published in the August Community
Calendar, and it is hoped that there will be even more
community involvement and support for this critical issue.
A fond farewell to our retiring staff
members—Susan Tanguay, Marylou Stano, and Leo Howard. Thank
you for your many valuable years of service to the children
of our community.
Have a wonderful summer and please remember
to read with your children. It is the single most important
thing you can do to help your child be successful in school. |
