GARDEN CLUB- DAY DIVISION
(continued) October
was an active one because we managed two workdays at the
dam, one for the regular monthly weeding and a later one for
planting the hostas we divided and transplanted from the
lovely gardens in Rochester we had visited last summer with
Althea Weeks. Althea was also our guest at our October
meeting, when she challenged our gardening knowledge by
checking our identification abilities of the seeds and
seedlings she brought with her. She called it “Stump The
Chump.” Most of us were stumped, but all were rewarded with
seeds or seedlings, whether or not we could name them! The
club also had its last highway pickup of the year in late
October.
We thank the Evening Group for inviting us to join them for
their “Dining With Randy” harvest dinner, which was the
social highlight of the month for both groups. Chef Randy
Brisson prepared and served a three-course dinner to forty
appreciative diners, explaining each course as it was eaten.
There was a lovely soup, followed by glazed roast pork with
fall vegetables and a delicious peach and blueberry cobbler,
each course a special treat. Thank you, Randy, for being
such a good friend of both our groups.
Thanksgiving will be here all too soon. Enjoy your families! |
